ATAS 8.0.13 Beta: New Crypto Indicators, VWMA, and Breakout Zones

ATAS just dropped a major beta update — Coinglass Long/Short Ratio, Open Interest indicators, VWMA, and Breakout Zones. Here's what it means for your trading.

ATAS just released Beta 8.0.13 on March 26, and this one is packed with features that crypto and futures traders will appreciate. As ATAS indicator developers at Empathy Edge Markets, we always test new releases to make sure our tools stay compatible — and to find ways these updates can make your trading better.

Let’s break down what’s new and how you can use it.

Coinglass Crypto Indicators

Two new indicators landed in the Crypto Metrics section:

  • Coinglass Long/Short Ratio — shows the ratio of long positions to short positions across major exchanges in real-time
  • Coinglass Open Interest — tracks changes in open interest, giving you a read on how much money is flowing into or out of a contract

These are powerful for crypto futures traders. When open interest is rising alongside price, it confirms the trend has conviction. When it diverges — that’s your warning sign.

Open interest tells you what the crowd is betting. The Long/Short Ratio tells you which side they’re on.

VWMA — Volume Weighted Moving Average

The new VWMA indicator weights the moving average by volume, giving heavier influence to periods with higher trading activity. This is a significant upgrade over standard moving averages for order flow traders:

  • SMA treats every bar equally — a low-volume bar counts the same as a high-volume breakout bar
  • VWMA puts the weight where the action is

If you’re already using VWAP in ATAS, think of VWMA as its cousin on the moving average side.

Breakout Zone Indicator

The new Breakout Zone indicator automatically identifies and highlights areas where price is consolidating before a potential breakout. This saves you from manually drawing rectangles around consolidation zones.

Combined with our Visible High Low indicator, you get a complete picture: the Breakout Zone shows you where price is coiling, and Visible High Low shows you the extremes it needs to break.

Other notable improvements

  • Chart synchronization improvements — multiple chart windows now stay in sync more reliably
  • Hotkey groups — you can now assign groups of actions to a single hotkey
  • FVG (Fair Value Gap) and Market Profile indicator improvements
  • Various bug fixes and performance optimizations

How this affects our indicators

Our indicator pack (version 6.0) is fully compatible with ATAS 8.x. All six indicators — Visible High Low, Fuse Wick Marker, Time Events, Candlestick Patterns, Colored Area, and Colored Data — work seamlessly with the new beta.

The new Coinglass indicators pair particularly well with our Colored Area indicator — use Colored Area to highlight when Open Interest crosses above or below key thresholds, creating a visual alert system directly on your chart.
